16th National Convention On Quality

THEME: "Quality Circles for Cooperation, Coordination & Collaboration"

Introduction:

 

In today's business world where competition is keener than ever, quality has become a vital element for nearly all industries, particularly for those whose customers look for value-fo-money services. Nurturing a quality culture within an organization requires commitment and support from all levels. Quality Circle (or so called Work Improvement Team) is the ideal tool to translate quality managemetn theories into practice, providng an excellent opportunity for frontline staff to resolve problems and to enhance productivity in their industry.

With the rapid development of quality circles in local organizations, the National Convention on Quality Circle will again be held in 2010, being the exclusive convention to recognize employees' efforts and contribution towards the improvement of productivity in their industry via quality circles. Award-winners will be recognized for their determination to tackle issues from the grass root level in pursuit of operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Objectives:

The purpose of the National Convention on Quality is to reward employees' contribution in quality enhancement and to recognize the companies' commitment in quality management.

The Training & Productivity Authority of Fiji.

Types of Awards:

Team Awards

Competitive Category:

1. Gold Award Recognition Plaque +$1000 Cash

2. Silver Award Recognition Plaque +$700 Cash

3. Bronze Award Recognition Plaque +$500 Cash

Non-Competitive Category:

Each Participating Circle will receive $200 Cash.

Outstanding QC (New Entry) Award Recognition Plaque + $200 cash
 

Individual Awards

QC Manager of the Year Recognition Plaque + $500 Cash

QC Facilitator of the Year Recognition Plaque + $500 Cash

QC Leader of the Year Recognition Plaque + $500 Cash

New Team Leader Award Recognition Plaque + $500 Cash

Outstanding QC Organization of the Year Recognition Plaque + $1000 Cash

Benefits:

This National Convention on Quality offers the participating companies excellent opportunities to benchmark their quality practice among their counterparts and enhance their competitive advantage in their industry. It also improves their corporate image and enhances the morale of the circle members.

Eligibility:

Organizations with principal activities in Fiji are elegible to participate at the National Convention on Quality. The final and binding decisions on the convention are vested with the Training & Productivity Authority of Fiji.

Adjudication:

To quality for the awards, the participants will undergo a stringent adjudication process. (The adjudication criteria are detailed in Appendix A)

Rules and Regulations:

1. The entries including the Application Forma nd Project Report(s) must reach TPAF by the deadline.

2. All entry forms must be complete and contain the signature of the entrant.

3. Entries must be in English and must be typewritten.

4. Soft copy of the report must be submitted

5. The consent of the finalists of the NCQ will be sought for the names of the organization to be used in promotion of the convention by the Organizer.

6. The Panel of Judges has all rights to make the final decisions on the selection of the winners of the NCQ. No appeal thereafter shall be entertained.

How to Participate:

Interested parties are requested to complete the application form and return together with a project report of your quality circle (work improvement team) to:

NO MORE THAN TWO PROJECTS PER COMPANY WILL BE ENTERTAINED FOR PARTICIPATION.

Participation Fee: $50 per member of each participating circle

Importand Dates:

Closing Dates for Applications - 30th September 2010
Deadline for Submission - 22nd October 2010
National Convention on Quality - 11th November 2010
